Teams of Ukrainian provider of software development teams Mobilunity and Lithuanian Embassy in Ukraine met in a friendly basketball match.

Kiev, Ukraine -- (ReleaseWire) -- 01/17/2018 -- On Monday, January, 15th 2018, the first of what may be many friendly basketball matches took place between the Orcas of Ukrainian based software development services provider, Mobilunity, and the Lithuanians of Kyiv, the official basketball team of the Lithuanian Embassy in Ukraine. Dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the restoration of the Lithuanian State, and the 100th anniversary of the National Unification of Ukraine each team had plenty to play for, and plenty of fans that came out to cheer them on in the first match of its kind in Kyiv.

"Sporting activities like the one we just organized are a big part of Mobilunity and the environment that we like to create for our staff" - Mobilunity CEO Cyril Samovskiy said. "So, if it's a basketball game for our corporate team - it should be loud enough, so our colleagues remember it for ages. What happened now was that Mobilunity Orcas were technically playing on behalf of Ukraine as our opponents were international institution, Lithuania-originated to be precise. Lithuania had a great team, that even included some former Ukrainian national basketball team stars from the early 2000's such as Hryhoriy Hyzhniak and Leonid Yaylo. Everyone who played on a court that day will remember the day when they played evenly with stars of such a scale.

The game had everything, from Patriotism in being able to represent our country, to inspiration from challenging very experienced players, it was a very unique experience we are really proud of. We lost the game but hopefully we will get a chance for a bit of revenge in the rematch in a few months".

It was an up and down affair with each team making runs for certain stretches of the contest. Team Lithuania began to pull away in the second quarter, but the Orcas of Mobilunity made a contest of it, by fighting back and going on a run of their own. In the end the execution and experience of the Lithuanian team was just too much to handle for the Orcas as the Lithuanians of Kyiv pulled away in the fourth quarter to secure a lopsided 81:54 victory. The cozy gym held over 40 fans from Mobilunity and just as many fans came out to support team Lithuania. This helped contribute to a joyous atmosphere that made the event not only enjoyable to watch but enjoyable to play in as well.

"We are very happy for this company "Mobilunity" initiative to organize the match between ''Mobilunity Orcas" and " Kijevo lietuviai" teams. It was good game with emotions, wiliness to win and hot supporters! Looking forward for the game on our court :) And many thanks to our partners: Ministry of Youth and Sports of Ukraine, Ukraine Basketball Federation and Basketball Club "Budivelnik" - says Gvidas Kerusauskas, the Minister of the Embassy of Lithuania in Ukraine.

Mobilunity has no intent on slowing down and sees the loss as an opportunity to get better as the company aims to continue organizing games of this level. The Next game is already being planned for middle of Spring, however the opponents have yet to be announced as no final confirmation has been made at this time.
