Phoenix, AZ -- (SBWIRE) -- 11/12/2019 -- Phoenix, Arizona, November 15, 22 and December 6, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. PT- A former deputy sheriff, a guy who felt he deserved to rot in prison and a guy who heard voices have one commonality. And, it is not the justice system.
William, a former deputy sheriff, was charged with sexual contact with an inmate. Even today William states he did not commit the crime even though he did the time. William served two years and three months in prison and remains on parole. Several times he was offered plea bargains in which he would be released early. Each time he denied because William was not going to confess to a crime he did not commit. In prison, William started out in protective custody because of his prior vocation but then he asked to be put in general population. Why? He was a certain target!
Joseph, at the age of 19, began serving his 30-year sentence for committing second degree murder. He has the possibility of parole after 10 years. He has served eight. Joseph was living in a mental state of condemnation for what he had done, and the guilt was overbearing. Yet, Joseph didn't want the ordinary prison life, so he sought something different. He found it in solitary confinement.
Richard grew up with the gang defining family, life and love. He has spent 14 years of a 20-year sentence for conspiracy of drug trafficking. During this time Richard heard someone speaking to him when there wasn't anyone talking to him. Now, it is plausible that an inmate could develop a mental illness but there was no diagnosis made when the prison psychologist evaluated him. With nothing to lose, Richard began conversing with the voice.
Three inmates. Three different lifestyles. One commonality. Listen to make the connection.
